MSS Instructor Pay System

The Mountain Sports School has a unique pay system that considers an instructor's qualifications (e.g., certs, years of experience) and performance (e.g., last year's request hours) to determine base wage. We also offer incentive pay (e.g., $X/student in your group) on top of base wage for group and private lessons alike.

MSS Payroll or your direct supervisor can talk through the systems with you, too!

Pay Schedule

At JHMR, pay periods begin on a Sunday and last for two weeks. Each pay period ends on a Saturday. Pay is issued on the following Friday. Find additional details in the JHMR Employee Handbook. The pay schedule for Winter 2025-2026 is as follows:

Receiving Your Pay

JHMR offers two options for how employees receive pay: Direct Deposit (DD) or Wisely Pay. You may set up DD when you fill out your electronic hire packet, or later via ADP. If you set up DD during a previous season, it will automatically resume when you are rehired as long as your banking info has not changed.

Wisely Pay has replaced the option of paper checks (JHMR no longer offers an option to receive paper paychecks). It works as a prepaid, chipped debit card. You may find a Wisely Pay "cheat sheet" here. Note that if you choose not to enroll in Direct Deposit, you will automatically be enrolled in the Wisely Pay program. Please contact MSS Admin with any questions.

Pay Corrections

The Mountain Sports School does not require employees to clock in or out for work. Your hours will be entered electronically each day by your supervisor. Review your pay on ProCard when you sign out electronically (more info on ProCard here).

If you notice an error with your pay, dispute it on ProCard AND let your supervisor know as soon as possible. Please review the procedure for signing out properly in ProCard HERE as many pay issues originate from instructors not signing out fully and on time. Sign-outs more than 24 hours late will not pay out any incentives; they will be switched to the private assignment rate.

A pay correction will show in ProCard the morning after it has been updated, and automatically rolls into your next paycheck. If we owe you pay from a previous pay period, you have the right to request a manual deposit for the amount that is past due. Please speak with MSS Admin for manual deposit requests.

Seasonal Time Off

Full-time winter seasonal employees are eligible for 24 hours of seasonal sick or time off leave. Dual Seasonal and Full Time Year Round accrual rates are in the JHMR Employee Handbook. Please submit sick/time off pay requests to your supervisor and to james.huffman@jacksonhole.com & ashley.toon@jacksonhole.com. Please then communicate with your supervisor to get off the schedule and have them enter in the day as sick/injured.

 

Staff must be scheduled to work to use seasonal sick leave. Does not count towards work hours. Violation of this policy is grounds for disciplinary action.
