MSS End of Season Newsletter

It has been a season!! From this….

to this

Saying hello to this...

And now saying good-by to this (and welcome to a new one next year!!)

This has been a season to remember. To all of you that came here for the first time- so glad you did. To all of you that keep coming back- we are so glad you do. The family that we call the MSS is one of the best places to call home. In a season that began with real challenges, your professionalism, skill and enthusiasm for our sport and our jobs brought out the best in the mountain, in each other and in our guests. The management team couldn’t be more proud and honored. Thank you.

Notes for the end of the season!

[Business Summary From Ann]

Uniform Return

Please return your uniform- washed and dried (mold is no good!)- to the Ram Building (where you picked it up). Hours for post-season returns are as follows: Tuesday April 16 - Friday April 19: 12 - 4:30pm

Monday April 22 - Wednesday April 24: 12 - 4:30pm

Returns after April 24th must be coordinated with James

Uniform returns will not be accepted on employee ski day (Monday April 15).

Last Paycheck

Your last seasonal paycheck will be April 19th. If you work any hours after Saturday April 13th, your last paycheck will come on May 3rd. Please be sure that all your pay is correct before Saturday April 13th so that the admin staff can correct any inaccuracies!

Also- if you have any reimbursements coming to you, please submit your invoices ASAP so we can get those to you. Certification invoices go to Paul Franzeim- they must show the event, the amount and that you have paid! Invoices submitted after the season ends won’t be fulfilled.

Progressive Pay Program (PPP)

Progressive Performance Pay (PPP) season is upon us. PPP is paid out as a percentage of your gross pay based on number of hours worked for the MSS. Hours worked for another department don’t count towards your PPP calculation. The requirements for PPP eligibility are

• Work greater than 225 hours

• Fulfill all regular season scheduling commitments

• Fulfill all peak period scheduling commitments

• Fulfill all administrative requirements (including scheduling, uniforms, on-boarding)

• Receive a positive end of season evaluation

In general, the PPP payments are received several weeks after the season has closed.

Official Locker Clean Out date

The deadline for locker clean-out is end of the day on employee ski day, April 15th. Sweetwater Gondola will run continuously until 4 pm that day to allow access. Please clean out ALL of your gear and personal items. Remember to check the top of your locker area. Help out by cleaning up any messes in and around your locker row and the benches. Leave your name card on the locker. Also please remove any sticky notes, photos or other items on your locker. If you still have any MSS gear- uniform items, Edgie-Wedgies- please return them to the appropriate location. Any items left after April 15th will be donated or discarded. Email Administration if you have any questions or concerns.

Employee Ski Day/Party!

Employee ski day will be on Monday April 15th- whoop whoop!! Starting at a very civilized 10 am, the Tram, Bridger Gondola, Thunder and Union Pass (conditions permitting) will run until 1 pm. DO NOT FORGET to bring your employee pass- the pass office will be closed that day and NO replacements will be issued. At the base, Spoons will be serving lunch starting at 11:30 until 3:30 pm. Sghetti will be supplying live music starting at 1:30 to 3:30 and the beer starts flowing when the food does.

There will be an enclosed food and beverage area that you will need your employee pass to enter. Don’t forget your ID if you want to have a beer. The always coveted 20 year recognition announcement will take place just before the music starts at 1:15 pm. There will be small schwag items going out all afternoon and larger prizes to randomly chosen employees in the entry line! Come enjoy the last of a great season under the Tram!!

Reminder!! As always- there is NO UPHILL TRAVEL on the ski area after the lifts close. Tear down and summer construction projects will start on Monday April 15th. Please respect this closure.

Rental Poles

If you ended up with a pair of rental poles (no judgement), please return them to the shop BEFORE employee ski day. If you don’t, they will be confiscated at the tram dock or gondola base that day. I repeat- if you are skiing with rental ski poles on employee ski day, they will be confiscated. Please don’t be that guy/gal.

Big Congratulations

In a season of industry leading certification successes, three of our very own attained a big goal- an invitation to the PSIA Examiner Development Team. Meg Lovely, Ryan Guthrie and Jess Prager were selected to join this team at the end of a very competitive two day ‘try-out’ in Deer Valley late last week. This starts their process of training and auditing to become an examiner for the Intermountain Division. Congratulations to Meg, Ryan and Jesse!

Huge congratulations to all of our successful certification candidates:
