MSS - Spring has Sprung!

Nothing says SPRING like a Cardboard Box Derby in the rain! Jen Traver’s crew in the Daycare defended their Derby Box Design crown Thursday afternoon with another victory.

Here are some notes as we enter spring and the homestretch of our season.

The ‘homestretch’ is a week longer this season; that means though it feels as though we are right around the corner from closing, we actually have just under a month to go! We want to finish strong so please take great care of yourself- monitor fatigue levels through the day, take some rest days (what?!) and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! We will be busy through Easter weekend so also be sure to check your schedule frequently to be aware of shifts in the schedule in time to accommodate them. Remember that if you cancel a private, your schedule reverts back to Available for Privates. Unless you contact your supervisor, you could be re-booked.

UNIFORMS

As the weather warms up, it gets hot in your full uniform. The issued light weight red soft shell (complete with nametag!) is the preferred spring piece. If necessary, it is acceptable to teach in a long sleeve white, black or gray shirt. Please no logos or graphics. If you are going to be in just a shirt, you must still wear a nametag (we have ones that you can pin-on). You must come to line-up and meet clients (or parents) wearing the red spring piece.

Uniform return! Admin will open the RAM to uniform returns March 28th. The times to deliver will be Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays from 2:30 - 5:00pm. Uniforms must be properly washed, pockets must be clean, and nametags must remain in them. You will also need to be done with work, confirmed by your supervisor, prior to drop off. If you cannot make these times, you may contact admin to drop off in the payroll office in the Bridger Basement. We will still be offering uniform checkouts to full time and part time + staff, and emails will be sent directly to those eligible.

If you are working on April Fool’s Day, we understand that you may wish to participate in the spirit of the day- you may! However, you must wear a uniform jacket piece. Costume pieces must be appropriate and in good taste.

SPRING TEACHING AND SKIING CONSIDERATIONS

Though tempting on high visibility and morning frozen conditions, please resist straight-lining with your classes on groomed swaths of Laramie Bowl, Cirque and stretches.

Here are some terrain choice considerations for spring conditions:

  • Spring time freeze-thaw cycles need to be taken into consideration as you plan your day.

  • Off-piste skiing in the morning will be frozen chunks and in the afternoon be intractable slush.

  • Follow the sun as it moves from east to south exposures to find the best ‘corn’ skiing.

  • Remember trails that were groomed before the evening freeze will be fast and have sliding conditions in the morning.

  • Try to anticipate the trails where there will be impressive slush push piles at the end of the day on our main egress routes.

  • Plan your terrain choices with these factors in mind.

As snowpack shrinks, be aware of obstacles that are re-emerging. Animal trails begin to melt out. If an animal trail is marked as closed- please stay off it!

LOOKING FORWARD

Applications for summer day care and pre-school are open. They are due on March 29th (next Friday). You can reach out to Hailey Sentz (hailey.sentz@jacksonhole.com) for more information.

Adult group seasonal programs have wrapped up. Thanks to all the coaches for running such a cornerstone program! If you have a group that you will be skiing/riding with next year, please submit your group roster to me (Lexey.wauters@jacksonhole.com) before the end of the season. The roster should include the participants name, phone number and email. You will receive a note shortly with details about next year’s program.

Company-wide service recognition awards (20-yr lifetime passes!!) will be awarded this season at the End-of-the-Season Party. In lieu of a 5 yr employee party, JHMR is throwing a BIG Employee Day bash. Skiing will be from 10 am to 1 pm on Bridger, Tram and Thunder followed by lunch and music under the tram from 11:30 to 3:30.

Progressive Performance Pay (PPP) season is upon us. PPP is paid out as a percentage of your gross pay based on number of hours worked. The requirements for PPP eligibility are

  • Work at least 225 hours

  • Fulfill all of your status requirements

  • Be available to work through the end of the season or until your supervisor has released you

Hours worked % of gross wage:

In general, the PPP payments are delivered several weeks after the season has closed. You can see your current PPP status on your ProCard profile in the Performance tile. Clink into "Progressive Performance Pay" from there.
