NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!! Welcome snowy day at the tram dock
NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!! Welcome snowy day at the tram dock

Happy mid-season. As we move through the heart of winter, I want to thank you for the work you are doing every day.

With inconsistent conditions across much of the West, guests are choosing Jackson — and when they arrive, you are delivering. Your professionalism and commitment to creating experiences people want to return for is evident in the guest service survey feedback we’re receiving.

With 1,599 responses season-to-date, our scores are exceptional:

Guest Satisfaction: 9.5 out of 10

Instructor Knowledge and Teaching: 9.6 out of 10

Even more meaningful than the numbers are the comments. Guests are calling you out by name, highlighting your expertise, your professionalism, and the relationships you build with them and their families.

Thank you for your passion, your energy, and your commitment to excellence. Let’s build on this momentum and make the second half of the season outstanding.

Presidents’ Week

President’s Week is just around the corner, and we are going to be busy!! Private lesson reservations are strong. Currently, business numbers as of 2/9 are just shy of our final sales at Christmas. Group lesson reservations across product zones are also strong. Sunday the 15th looks to be the peak of the holiday week, and with a large corporate group at the end of the week, we will certainly be staying busy.

Please remember a few key points:

  • Check your schedule frequently!

  • If your private is cancelled, your schedule will revert to Available for Privates. Be prepared to be re-booked.

  • For single day or half day bookings, delay your confirmation contact. This allows the private lesson supervisors to move bookings around last minute as they need.

  • In the group programs, please be on time for all meet times: line-ups, lunch times (SO important!), and drop-off times.

  • Take care of yourself and plan ahead!

Mid-seasonal evals and MSS survey available now:

Your supervisors are completing mid-season evaluations. Your work metrics are logged as of Jan 31 and are available for viewing through ProCard. This is a mid-season check in around status and work hours. At the same time, we are asking that YOU complete a short survey about your season with the MSS so far. It takes perhaps15 minutes.

We love to hear your feedback! Here is the survey link: MSS Mid-Season Survey 2026 – Fill out form

Retail and Restaurant Referral Program:

These are the basics -
  • When instructors bring clients to participating JHMR locations, clients get 10% off (15% for season pass holders). Rodeo purchases give no discount but still count toward referrals.

  • Instructors earn $25 in Mountain Money for every $500 their clients spend.

  • Sale items: no extra discount for clients, but instructors still receive referral credit.

  • Instructor must be present during purchase; photos of passes aren’t accepted.

  • No retroactive discounts or referral credit.

Where it applies -
  • Retail: JH Sports, Teton Village Sports, Hoback Sports, Hole in the Wall Snowboard Shop, Rodeo (no discount). Not valid for rentals or repairs.

  • Food & Beverage: Piste, Trappers, Tram Dock.

Bonus incentive (new) -

Top 3 referrers at JH Sports, Teton Village Sports, and Hoback Sports win prizes (awarded Fall 2026):

  1. Skis or snowboard

  2. Jacket (brand varies by store)

  3. Goggle/helmet combo

Dining Updates

After reviewing your feedback and working closely with our Food & Beverage team, we are implementing two updates designed to better support you in creating seamless guest experiences: one regarding Trapper’s reservations and one clarifying employee dining discounts and the dining referral program.

  • Request reservations without providing a credit card.

  • Please submit requests at least 24 hours in advance to allow time for processing.

  • Once your request is confirmed, you’ll receive a confirmation from Resy at the email address you provide in the form. Reservation times may be confirmed or modified to the next available time based on the day’s existing business levels, so we encourage submitting requests as early as possible.

To help ensure smooth service flow, please note the following expectations:
  • Only complete parties will be seated. If a party is not complete at the reservation time, guests will be directed to the bar area until everyone has arrived.

  • Tables will be held for no more than 10 minutes past the agreed reservation time.

  • If your plans change, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. An unused table is a missed opportunity for our F&B teams. Cancellations can be made from your Resy confirmation.

  • For same-day requests or reservations within 24 hours, please visit Trapper’s in person and speak directly with the host.

Employee Dining Discounts

We’ve also clarified & simplified dining discounts when you are working and dining with guests.

  • At all JHMR-owned dining locations, if you are working and dining with guests, you may use your employee dining discount with no time-of-day restrictions.

  • The discount applies to your meal only, not to your guests.

  • When dining with clients at Trappers, Piste, or Tram Dock, your employee discount will be applied and you will receive dining referral credit.

  • As always, you will need to present your season pass to be scanned to receive your discount.

As we implement these changes, I want to thank our F&B team for their continued partnership and support of MSS.

To support their success, please honor reservation times, communicate clearly, and cancel promptly if plans change. These things make a meaningful difference in their ability to execute at a high level.

What happens when Sweetwater isn’t running?

If SW isn’t running during critical business hours (from 7:45 to 10:30), we have a plan!

Please review the following:

  1. We will post on ProCard messaging ASAP to let you know what is going on.

  2. Instructors accessing Solitude Locker Room: you may walk up, ride Teewinot in your street clothes (you still must scan appropriately!) or look to see if Mtn Ops has pulled out a sled to run people up. Generally, their piAckup spot is at the KR Ranch yard entrance.

  3. ALL MEETING PLACES WILL REMAIN THE SAME. Unless otherwise informed, all line-ups will proceed as normal. The supervisor staff will arrange for traffic directors at the base between Sweetwater and Teewinot.

  4. All students that can ride a lift and ride/ski a green will access Solitude mid-station via Teewinot. As they become available, supervisors will assign instructors to the base to act as lift chaperones.

  5. Students that do not already ride a lift or ski/ride a green, will access Solitude mid-station via snow machine. The pickup spot is at the entrance of the KR yard.

  6. Carry on and have an amazing day!!

  7. If SW is closed at the END of the day (interfering with Explorer pick up), ski/SB instructors will ski into the mid-station. Any kiddos that are not picked up by skiing parents will ski down to the base with their instructors to find parents.

Summer with JHMR

Hiring for summer positions at JHMR will open on March 1.

We will be posting some limited positions at MSS such as Ropes Course Attendants, Summer Activity Attendants, Summer Camp Counselors, and Summer Activities Lead positions.  Company-wide, there will also be positions in a variety of departments. We will post more information and links to apply as March 1st approaches. If you have questions about any of the MSS positions you may reach out to Hailey Sentz (Camp) or Meg Lovely and Richard Morse (Summer Activities).

Thank you again for the commitment and passion you bring to the mountain, each other, and to our guests each day.

Have a great Presidents’ Week rush and THINK SNOW!!
