Happy August, MSS staff! The days are starting to get a little shorter, which can only mean good things are coming for those of us already counting down to winter. Here are some events that you want to be sure to check out before summer fades, followed by some winter season updates!

Concert on the Commons (Sundays at 5pm, Teton Village)
Lexey recommends: This Sunday (August 14th) should be fantastic, featuring DJ Williams’ Shots Fired. Williams is the guitarist for Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe; his band may include members of the Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio Band and other big names. Listen to a sample of this contemporary funk band and c’mon out to boogie! There are only two Sundays left in the series.

Via Ferrata (through October 9th)
The new routes on the Via Ferrata are nearing completion. Our partners at the Forest Service will inspect and approve them for travel next week. We are running some great incentive programs for JHMR. Put together a group of up to 5 employees (current or Winter 21-22), and you can come climb at our 1-2 person rate.
*NEW!* Put a little hot cocoa money in your pocket! We are running a referral program for the Via Ferrata. If you refer someone to the VF and they book a trip, you get a $20 Mountain Money card. We issue cards at the end of each month. If you are interested in participating, click HERE or drop Whit (whitney.roof@jacksonhole.com) or Lexey (Lexey.wauters@jacksonhole.com) a line to get set up.
Disc Golf is hot in the Village. There are tournaments and events weekly- come mix it up in the Village on Sunday Funday- $20 Bike Park tickets and disc golf singles tourney.

Winter News As noted earlier, it is exciting when the days start getting shorter. Planning for the winter season continues. Here are some updates. Booking Updates Thank you to all the coaches that got their BYO groups so well organized this spring- enormous help. Nearly all groups are now set on the days they want (special thanks to those that were willing to switch!). Thanks to these early bookings, we are able to open to new groups on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you have the makings of a group, we would love to have you. To book, contact Lexey; if the available days don’t work for the group you have in mind, let us know and we can try to figure it out! It is officially booking season! Please use ProBooking to get your clients booked. Check out our ProBooking Tutorial for a refresher. You can ProBook for returning or new clients. If you have more complex requests, please email mss.privates@jacksonhole.com. We introduced this season’s dynamic pricing for lift access in the last newsletter. Lift access is on sale now- check the JStore for current pricing. These are early purchase prices; they increase on October 1st. Let your clients know!
MSS Youth & Early Childhood Updates Winter daycare and preschool will again be for employee children only. Spots are very limited and open through application only. For information or to apply by the August 19th deadline, please contact Hailey. If you haven’t yet, please sign your children up for their winter seasonal program. We will form groups much earlier this season, so having all participant names in early will give your child the best possible chance of placement in the correct group. Don’t forget that Rangers and TVR won’t start until after the December holidays this season. Sign up via the JStore HERE.
Job Offer Update We are working on offers for all returning winter staff as you read this. We are working through the approval process for Winter 2022-23 wages and are making some adjustments to status. We hope to wrap this up by the end of this month, allowing us to send out offers shortly thereafter. If you have any questions leading up to that feel free to reach out to Paul, Lexey or Steve. As we do each summer, we recalculate instructors’ priority grouping based on the previous year’s productivity numbers (total work hours, request hours, students taught). This year, we are including points for hired status to ensure that full time instructors are appropriately prioritized for work. Points for primary certs and Children Specialist accreditation are also still included. We will email those new calculations out this month. Please review your points when you receive your new priority to confirm that we have all the correct information. If you gained a primary discipline certification or a CS accreditation that we don’t have record of, let us know! Recruiting Update We are receiving winter applications daily and have been impressed with the quality of applicants so far. James, Julia and Paul are working through them, and the Class of 2023 is shaping up nicely. If you have friends, family or acquaintances interested in teaching this winter, please have them check out the application process HERE under Winter Employment. Housing is again proving challenging for our new recruits to procure. If you have any leads, please share them on our MSS Housing Forum on Telegram or email Paul. Any and all help is much appreciated!

Lastly, a shout-out to all participants of the Rendezvous Hill Climb last weekend! Type II fun at its finest. There were several familiar names on the roster- congrats to all of them for perseverance and fortitude! Despite driving rain and near-freezing temps at the finish, these MSS members seen at the summit: Lucas Onan, Kent McBride, Beau Brown and Ratty Sheidow. Wishing you all the best of adventures during the final weeks of summer!
