The helicopter that will be flying materials to and from the construction site for the new Sublette arrived last night. The happy “whop, whop, whop” of the heli started this morning. Looking forward to riding the new lift this winter!
Come Celebrate Peter Wuerslin
As a reminder, there will be a celebration for Peter Wuerslin this Saturday, June 15, in the Walk Festival Hall. The slide show will start at 2:30 with comments starting at 3 pm. If you have a story you would like to share, please let Cindy know. The MSS will be hosting a gathering at RPK 3 following the larger event. Please join us there for a beverage and light appetizers. Please note- there is no food, drinks or pets allowed in the Festival Hall.
Road to Recovery
Many of you know Mike Janssen as a ripping skier, a talented and empathetic trainer/examiner, and a long time MSS family member. Mike’s daughter, Stella, was recently in a serious car accident. Her injuries included massive trauma to her face, jaw and teeth. She has already undergone the first round of reconstructive surgery and will likely need several more. Her friends and family have set up a GoFundMe account to help defray these costs. Please consider visiting the site to make a donation no matter the size. You can find that here: Road to Recovery
And THIS happened...

I’m sure you are following this news closely. Information this week from WYDOT indicates optimism on having a temporary solution in place in a matter of weeks (rather than months). Action at the state level released funds very quickly to allow Evans Construction to get on site promptly. The pictures above certainly indicate progress.
The JHMR Senior Team is meeting daily with town, county and DOT staff to understand these timelines and create solutions. Actions that are already in place or waiting for approval:
Additional commuter transit times published. Check out the START bus page
Just received final approval from Teton County to allow temporary housing and camping. JHMR leadership is finalizing the process for getting the Ranch Lot open for this.
Working with Teton County Housing Authority seeking temporary relief on housing restrictions to allow for ‘short term residency’ in employee housing spaces
JHMR Leadership approved a Teton Pass Road Closure Hardship Stipend for employees that are commuting from Teton Valley to work at the area. This will be available for any employee who is a resident of the Idaho communities affected and who is mission critical for operations.
This list represents just a portion of the items that are being considered. With town, county, state and federal agencies and private interests involved, there are many people working towards these solutions. In the meantime, if you or anyone you know has a mother-in-law apartment or a trailer that you would be willing to consider renting or offering for temporary accommodation, please reach out to Lexey (Lexey.wauters@jacksonhole.com) or Matt (matt.clos@jacksonhole.com)
Hope you are enjoying some great outdoor activities in our finally summer weather!
