Summer is in full swing at Teton Village. Last weekend saw over 300 runners (including one of our own- Brenton Reagan, pictured above) descend upon the Village to ASCEND Rendezvous Peak following three courses of varying distances including 15K, 30K and 50K. The next Village running event is the annual Rendezvous Mountain Hillclimb on August 3rd.
The BIG News!

Doug Pierini, a distinguished JHMR and Mountain Sports School alumnus has returned to Jackson to fill the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer. He started his new position on July 15th. Many of you may remember Doug from his almost decade-long tenure working at JHMR. He started with us in the early 90s and moved into supervisor and manager roles in the Mountain Sports School. Later, his career took him through a variety of positions before he moved to Vail Resorts in 2010 as the VP of Skier Services at Breckenridge. He moved into increasingly larger leadership roles with Vail, which culminated in a turn as the Senior Vice President of the Western Region for Vail Resorts. He oversaw resorts on the West Coast of the US, Whistler Blackcomb in Canada, and three Australian resorts.
Doug counts Jackson Hole as the highlight of his career: during his tenure with us he completed an MBA to supplement his BA from Rutgers University in Economics. He honed the ski and coaching skills he would later display when he was selected to join the PSIA National Team.
More importantly, he met his wife, Leigh when they worked together at the Jackson Hole Mountain Sports School and for PSIA-I as examiners. For many years, they have both been looking for an opportunity to return to Jackson, the place they love. Doug and Leigh have two children- Mia (who will be entering her freshman year in college this fall) and Dominic (who will be a senior in high school). Please join us in welcoming Doug and Leigh back to the community!
News from the Via Ferrata!

Adding to their already impressive resumes, Carol Viau and Ryan Ravinsky recently passed their Single Pitch Instructor exam. The AMGA program is a two-day program that assesses the participant’s proficiency to facilitate and instruct the sport of rock climbing in a single pitch setting. We have recently added a rock-climbing component to the Via Ferrata product that will greatly enhance and expand our climbing experience offerings.
Speaking of which- we have launched our Via Ferrata referral program! We are offering a $25 referral incentive for any successful VF booking sent to us by you- one of our winter family. Simply let your clients, guests, friends, or family know about the Via Ferrata. Have them mention the referral and your name when they book- they will get a 10% discount on their day, and YOU will get $25. Feel free to hand them a business card if that will help them remember. Make it even easier for them by sharing the direct line to our Sales Team- 307-739-2797. We will keep track of the referrals and issue a mountain money card to you in the accrued amount. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Lexey Lexey.wauters@jacksonhole.com or Whit whitney.roof@jacksonhole.com.
Do you know about this?!
Open in its entirety for the first time at the beginning of this summer, the Wild Woods playground is the spot to be. Tucked into the trees uphill of the Solitude Station, this three-dimensional multi-featured playspace is great for kids from 3 to infinity. It is a short ride up Sweetwater Gondola, or quick hike up the purpose-built trail from the base of the Ropes Course.

Other Summer Shenanigans!

Richard Morse, summer activities supervisor, leads a crew of the Ropes Course staff on an evening bike ride to Moose for the Hoot. Foreshadowing for more ‘Last Chair’ activities this winter!
