View from the new Grand Teton Skywalk. Opened on September 1st, this platform allows access to one of the most iconic views in the area directly from the tram dock.

The MSS summer activities, including the Bungee Tramp, Rock Wall, and Ropes Course, concluded after Labor Day weekend. Our activities crew, which includes our Bulgarian J-1 employees, had a fantastic time celebrating with a river day. For many, it was their first experience with rafting, while others explored the Snake River Canyon for the first time.

WINTER UPDATES

Training:

We're excited to announce that we've increased our training wage to $15.00 an hour. This increase reflects our commitment to your professional development. We are extraordinarily proud of our training program--its robust staff participation, training outcomes, the variety of offerings and the strength of the training staff.

Based on feedback from both staff and supervisors, we are focused on providing increased clarity of training expectations and developing content beyond certification preparation. Early season training this year will aim to provide more technical and teaching-based content with the following goals in mind:

  • Focusing on the development of the 1st – 3rd year instructors (Level 1, CS 1 and Level 2).

  • Enhancing the development and retention of the career instructors at Level 2 and beyond.

  • Increasing the pool of upper-level instructors teaching camps, upper-level classes at all ages, and all mountain products.

  • Developing and delivering meaningful content for longtime career staff.

So, what does that mean for your training this year? Each instructor will receive a training group assignment with their job offer based on one of these goals. The management team and training staff will tailor content that is relevant for each of these groups.

When you sign up for your required fall training, Full-Time or Part-Time + status instructors will be asked to register for 2 full days of training, while Part-Time and Peak Period instructors will participate in 1 full day of training. You will still be expected to complete the mandatory JHMR All-Company Online Training.

If your training group assignment doesn't make sense when you receive your offer, or if you anticipate any circumstance that may limit your participation in training, please reach out to Paul at paul.franzeim@jacksonhole.com.

Other winter news:

The Fall Hiking Series is now on the training calendar. It is a robust schedule this fall with a variety of locations and hike leaders. Check ProCard for the schedule and sign up for a hike. Great way to re-connect with some of your colleagues and start the ‘get-in-shape-for-ski-season’ push!

Please sign your children up for their winter seasonal programs as soon as possible. This will help us create groups sooner and may allow waitlisted children to join our programs.

Probooking is OPEN! Whit and her team are ready to assist and get those bookings into RTP. Remember that daily lift access is limited again this winter, so please remind your guests to organize their tickets in advance.

Applications for childcare this winter are open NOW. Hailey would like you to reach out to her directly at hailey.sentz@jacksonhole.com to get that process started.

Recruiting season is strong this year! We have had over 300 applications thus far and 133 engagement letters have gone out (a pre-offer). If you have potential instructors reach out to you, please direct them to the JHMR job portal or they may email us at mssapplicaons@jacksonhole.com.

If you have housing or need housing, check out the MSS Housing Forum on Telegraph. Link is here.

If you would like to review winter updates on new products, status updates, base wage and incentive approvals, etc… remember that you can find recent newsletters on the MSS Admin site here.
