MSS Post Offers Newsletter Fall 2024

We’re excited for the upcoming winter season and have a lot of great information to share with you! In this newsletter, you’ll find important updates about wages, status, priority, and training.

Job Offers

Winter offers have been in your inbox for a couple of weeks and the response deadline is coming up. Thanks to everyone that has replied! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your pre-season contact with any questions about your offer. Pre-season contacts are:

Please submit your job offer response by October 4th, whether you are accepting or declining your offer. Your timely response helps us make informed staffing and scheduling decisions as we move into the fall.

Wages

This winter, we focused our wage increases on instructor base wages for two reasons. First, increasing base wages ensures that every member of our staff receives a raise. Second, we made targeted adjustments to the initial pay groups to better recognize and incentivize our staff as they advance through the certification track and develop professionally in the early stages of their careers.

As always, please review your wage calculator to determine that your pay group has been calculated correctly. If you have attained additional certifications or accreditations that we don’t know about, please let us know. Making wage adjustments before you complete your on-boarding paper work is best.

Status

Status designations are largely the same with a few modifications. We added a Peak Period designation of “Seasonal Program”. This allows a returning instructor to continue to ski/ride with their seasonal group as their life circumstances evolve. This status will replace the PT-Weekend status offered last year. Reviewing staffing through the season revealed that these modifications will more closely meet individual as well as MSS needs. Please review status requirements and benefits below:

If you have questions about the status you were offered or would like to discuss the best option for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your pre-season contact (shown above).

Priority

For the 2024-2025 season, priority has been calculated the same way as last year. You can view your priority points calculation using the priority group calculator on ProCard.

For the 2025-2026 season, we will be updating the priority calculation to better reflect the value we place on professional development and creating experiences worth returning for. After reviewing various scenarios, we have decided to implement the following modifications to the priority points system for the next season. Points will now be accrued based on:

  • Total work hours (new points distribution)

  • Total instructor-managed hours

  • Total students taught

  • Elective training hours

  • Status

  • Primary discipline certification

  • Children Specialist Accreditation

Early this season, you will receive an email detailing your priority points and priority group based on this new system. This will give you the opportunity to review and provide feedback. Please note that these changes will not take effect until the 2025-2026 season.

To be clear, priority is a factor used by supervisors in assigning work. Priority does not guarantee any specific type of work (group vs. private lessons) or a particular type of student (level, age, or group size).

Training

Training groups have been assigned and included in your offer. For this coming winter, training groups were determined based on supervisor recommendations from end-of-season evaluations with input from Sr. management and trainers. You can review these recommendations by visiting the performance tab in ProCard.

Your cohort placement reflects your certification level, technical skills, interpersonal abilities, and operational autonomy. Training goals for each cohort focus on professional development in these areas, understanding there is a range of competencies within each group. Descriptions of each cohort can be found here.

We are refining this process to create a more cohesive training and professional development program. Paul has set up December training dates for each group (link to Training Calendar here) and content will be tailored to each cohort based on information by feedback we received regarding the group assignments last season.

If you have questions or concerns after reviewing your training group assignment and the cohort descriptions, please feel free to contact Paul (paul.franzeim@jacksonhole.com) or your pre-season contact (shown above).

The training calendar is online and open for sign-ups in ProCard. All full-time and part-time+ staff should sign up for 2 clinics designated for their training group. All part-time and peak period staff should sign up for 1 clinic.
